Grants Awarded

From 2003 through 2016, New Field Foundation supported locally led initiatives in Africa that provide long-term solutions to poverty, violence and injustice through local organizing, movement building and systems change. We awarded grants through the following programs:

Rural Women Creating Change
This program, which New Field closed in 2016, supported rural women's organizations and networks in West Africa to take leadership and create positive change in their regions. We partnered with organizations over a number of years to ensure stability and effectiveness. We concentrated our funding in three main areas and provided additional support to advance women's rights, skills and knowledge.
Casamance (Senegal, The Gambia, Guinea Bissau)
Mano River Union (Guinea, Liberia, Sierra Leone)
Niger River
Niger River Basin (Burkina Faso, Mali, Côte d’Ivoire)
