Based in KwaZulu Natal, one of the poorest provinces in South Africa, Rural Women’s Movement (RWM) serves as an information, advocacy and training network for poor, rural, landless women. RWM helps women to enhance their leadership capacities, influence policy and effectively participate in decision-making at all levels to advocate for women’s property rights and their access to and control over land. RWM comprises over 500 women's groups with a total membership of over 20,000 women.

| This grant enables the participation of three representatives of RWM at the World Social Forum (WSF) 2007 in Nairobi, Kenya. WSF presents an opportunity for RWM to advocate on behalf of rural women on issues of access to land, inheritance rights, and sustainable development, as well as learn from others working on these issues throughout Africa. |

| 2005 | $31,500 | 2 years |
| This grant continues New Field’s support of the salary of the Director of RWM. It also enables the development of a new micro-finance program for RWM member groups, drawing on the findings of the previously funded feasibility study, with the purpose of strengthening the capacity of rural women’s groups to build credit programs and manage their financial resources. |
| 2004 | $10,000 | 1 year |
